The Miller Family: Lifestyle Newborn Session

Sometimes the littlest things take up the most room in your heart.

–Winnie the Pooh

When I told my kids that I was going to take Baby Landon’s picture, they all exclaimed, “You are going to Rodeo-dog Remi’s house WITHOUT us?!” You see, we’ve gotten to know Colleen and Kyle on their frequent walks with Remi over the past year–and the kids lovingly awarded him this nickname because of his bubbly cuteness! And when Colleen told us he was going to be a big brother, we were all overjoyed!

When I arrived, Landon stole my heart immediately with his tiny finger and toes and sweet little face. Remi was so protective of him and made sure to thoroughly check me out before I was allowed ANYWHERE near his baby.

After Remi decided that I was safe…he settled into his crate and we settle Landon into a cozy little basket!

I had some cute outfits that I brought along just in case Colleen and Kyle were up for trying them–and I was SO excited when they were ALL IN! Poor Landon was not a fan of being changed…but who would want to go from cozy and nestled in, to not?! But he was a trooper and settled back in quickly with a little help from his mom and his binky! Before we knew it, he was fast asleep again. He LOVED the poof that we snuggled him into and the cozy suspenders and sleeping cap!

We awoke Mr. Landon from his slumbers to do another outfit change and headed up to his nursery–and when I stepped foot inside, it nearly took my breath away! It has the most beautiful wall that his dad made for him! And the colors are so peaceful and tranquil that he will, without a doubt, be sleeping soundly in there as he gets a little bigger!

When one becomes a parent for the first time, there is a surreal-ness (yep, I’m a former English teacher, but I totally made that word up) that often times accompanies it. A newness that can never be adequately explained, but amazing to experience.

Kyle and Colleen–thank you for inviting me into your home to photograph your young family only a week after Landon joined our world. You guys are already amazing parents, and Landon is incredibly lucky to have you! It will be a pleasure and a joy to get to see him grow. And PS…if you ever need an extra set of arms to rock and hold him for a bit, I can be there in under 5 minutes ;)!

XO,

Ang
